With just 32 legislative days left to find a uniform, national food GMO labeling solution… things are getting real.
Grocery Manufacturers Association President Pamela Bailey summed it up best, saying:
“With July 1 now weeks away, more and more companies will be facing reformulation decisions. Manufacturers and consumers alike need relief from the prospect of more confusion and higher costs… Clearly, the Senate needs to act and act quickly, or farmers may lose access to biotech. Food companies may be forced to reformulate and consumers will face higher food costs.”
Reformulation is REAL, and it will be a growing, detrimental trend across our food supply chain as safe, affordable foods made with biotech ingredients are stigmatized due to a patchwork of misleading, anti-science labeling laws.
There’s no time to waste.
There are just 32 working days left to stop the looming threat of reformulation that will dramatically impact American farmers, food producers and families by blocking Vermont’s law from taking effect in July.
We are a broad-based coalition representing the entire American agriculture food supply chain – from farm to fork. We are committed to increasing the public’s understanding about the science and safety of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and advocating for science-based policies that keep food affordable for every American.
