Just one day after the National Academy of Sciences GE Crop Study reaffirmed the safety and benefits of GMOs to consumers and our environment — we’re reminded that there isn’t much time left to ensure a uniform, national food labeling law that sides with science is put into place to protect American families, farmers and food producers from the impacts of Vermont’s GMO-labeling mandate.
Vermont’s impending on-pack labeling requirement will not only add cost and confusion to the marketplace, but will likely force food companies to reformulate their products way from GMO ingredients — hurting American farmers and driving food manufacturing jobs overseas.
With just 27 working days left to find a uniform, national food labeling solution, the time for action is now.
We are a broad-based coalition representing the entire American agriculture food supply chain – from farm to fork. We are committed to increasing the public’s understanding about the science and safety of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and advocating for science-based policies that keep food affordable for every American.
