Get The Facts Right On GMOs
Rebecca Larson (LTE)
The Denver Post
I appreciate the value of differing opinions in a public debate. However, those opinions must be backed by reasonable facts. I find it appalling that The Post ran Susan Permut’s letter, which was riddled with error. First, Monsanto does not make neonicotinoids; Syngenta and Bayer do. Secondly, neonicotinoids have nothing to do with GMOs; they are applied to conventional seeds as well. Thirdly, Roundup is glyphosate, a weed control chemical, not a neonicotinoid. Fourthly, Roundup is one of the most rapidly biodegraded compounds used in agriculture, gone in weeks.
We are a broad-based coalition representing the entire American agriculture food supply chain – from farm to fork. We are committed to increasing the public’s understanding about the science and safety of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and advocating for science-based policies that keep food affordable for every American.
